Residential property development

South Downs National Park, East Sussex

This development project is located in the pretty South Downs village of Kingston-near-Lewes. Dwell was appointed after planning consent had been granted, replacing two previous architects who had worked on different elements of the scheme. Dwell was tasked with preparing the technical design information and delivering the projects on site.

The approved scheme comprised four dwellings by conversion of existing buildings, and a new build low-energy eco-house. Dwell leveraged the back catalogue of planning consents on the site, reworking the site masterplan resolving access and drainage constraints, and relocating the parking court to provide space for an additional three bedroom detached house on the site.

Opportunities to improve the layouts and facilities provided in the conversion units were also seized, with Dwell securing consent where required with a mix of subsequent planning applications and amendments to existing approvals.

The changes made improved the Gross Development Value (GDV) of the site significantly.
